"Pressure washed and inspected" huh? Sounds kind of deceptive. Kind of sounds like "pressure tested", except it's a completely different process.
Ben,
There is nothing in the least bid deceptive about what I said and I'm not very happy that you have implied that I'm trying to mislead anyone. None of us can pay a machine shop to pressure test a head and not tack that onto the price. Plus, I feel it's a waste of money for what I'm doing. Once the head is very clean "pressure washed" I can visually inspect it for cracks and I've yet to miss any. Everything else that is bad is pretty easy to spot also, like burnt valves and a warped gasket surface. I think that any used head should have the stem seals replaced, but most of my customers only care about the very cheapest way to get there car back on the road after the T-Belt broke. Most of them didn't even know the engine had a T-Belt until it was too late.
I've sold a few hunderd 885 heads by now. Probably many more than all the other members of this forum combined.

So you're saying you have some sort of X-ray vision that can spot cracks in a head that don't show up until the head is pressurized?? And you have super-spidey-sense that can spot a warped head??
"a few hunderd" heads sold huh?? That's impressive but somehow I think your math might be off a bit.
Why make exaggerated or vague claims? Why not just say that they've been visually inspected and that they have no obvious defects, but that they are not pressure tested unless the customer wants to pay for that service??
Seems like the profit off of a "few hunderd" heads would allow you to afford something other than a gmail address for your business.
Well guys, the places that normally crack can be spotted visually if you look hard. OK, I know there are exceptions, but not many. As I said the people that I sell heads to most of the time didn't even know their cars had a timing belt until it broke. They just want a cheap fix and much of the time sell the car as soon as it's repaired. I can't afford to have the heads pressure checked and I think you guys are missing who buys 99% of my heads.
BTW - The eBay listing the link is to has been running for a long, long time. I have been running the same listing for years and this have never come up before. I have 100% good feedback over there.
Yes, I have sold a few 100 heads. Most of the local guys on this forum know me and know I sell one or two heads pretty much every week and have been doing it for years now.
Gee, my heads are pressure tested too that I use on my own cars and I'm sure many of the other forum members test their heads also. What's that got to do with who I sell heads to and why my way of doing it is good enough for them?
Ive dealt with Bruce quite a few times and i always feel guilty like i ripped him off because he has helped me out countless times with parts for my own car and let me borrow some stuff that i still have to return. For some reason he never lets me pay him back haha.
He is probably about my grandparents age and is a very respectable man, bought me lunch on a few occassions and even dropped off a engine hoist at my house, over half an hour away. Id be hard pressed to find someone so helpful as he has been, and although we dont hang out i consider him a friend.
There is nobody id rather buy from than Mr Bruce Smith :)
