    WTB: iX steering rack

    My recently acquired 88 iX has a leaky steering rack, so it looks like i need to replace it

    If you can you might want to hold out for one of these guys to develop the kit to make the e36 rack work. It would be cheaper... if you can hold out that is.

      try some stop leak until we get the e36 brackets figured out. If its leaking, make sure its somewhere you can't fix before you replace the rack. Pretty much if its leaking out the ends of the rack, its blown seals. But be sure before you spend big $$. It might just be one of the hard line fittings or the pump, or the resevoir. Check all these closely. But maybe you can see easily that its coming from the ends. If you aren't already sure, pull back the boots and wipe away most of the fluid you can see. Start the car and watch for fluid to come out. It might be handy to have the front end up so you can turn the wheel side to side.
