    e30 Drivers door lock assembly

Would anyone have a drivers complete lock assembly. I know I just wrote a redundancy. When I disconnected my actuator the door won't lock or unlock from the push button. Hence, when I had power to the lock it would lock from outside but not unlock so I believe something is either missing or jammed. I would just rather replace it with another.

Someone local Toronto would be preferred. But if anyone has one kicking around I would take it. please pm me.

In my experience with these cars I haven't seen this problem before; I would change your central lock module first to see if this fixes the problem. Much easier to do then to remove and replace lock assembly. You have to move the window regulator and track out of the way to get the lock out. Along with the wiring. It's a bit of a job to do. No wonder the guy never fixed it when I bought the car.

My door lock was already screwed up and I was barely getting by with the trunk but when I was away my neighbor who was looking after my car didn't listen and broke something in the locking mechanism in the driver's door. I specifically said "unlock & lock the doors from the trunk." so he not only broke the door lock but put my system in an infinite loop while I was away which trickled my battery and wore out the cls. Thus me being in a simliar situation to yours. I'm going to make a JY run tomorrow or Tuesday and I'll try to get the items you need also. PM the pieces you need.

Hey sorry i didn't get back to you earlier, I went to the yard and the dude decided to be a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles and he wanted 230 dollars for a set of ellipsoid connectors (yes those connectors), 2 central locking modules and 2 driver's door locking assemblies, so I walked out and still can't lock my door properly :(

Hey, no worries....yeah that's a bit steep. But the yards know and don't care. I managed to repair my car just yesterday. Sigh..what a job. I was out ti'll 10:30 last night fiddling with my lock assembly. I ended up rebuilding the lock cylinder anyway since it was broken and I happened to have a spare lying around. it was in fact my latch assembly that was bad along with the broken lock. the job is much easier if you have cable driven windows as it allows your arm more room to go in and work. My arm barely got in and after about 2 dozen entries it's pretty scratched up and sore. not something I want to do again that's for sure. Let me look around here-Toronto- to see if I can source one. I don't know what it will cost; I paid a guy 20.00 cash for one - wasn't exactly the same but works -I remove but he wanted to sell me the door - most want to sell you a door for 50.00. if I can find one for that would you want it? give me your zip code and I can find out what shipping cost. If I can get it cheaper I'll be sure to let you know. PM me to let me know if you want me to find you one as it's hard for me to keep track of posts.

I don't know if the job is worth fixing in all honesty. if you have time and patience then sure. But for safety cert would need to be fixed.
now onto the back windows as they are shorting. my bmw tech friend told me it's the wiring in the door harness that using breaks causing intermittent work.

                  ernie- thanks for trying. :-)

I am glad you got it taken care of, I know how much that sucked for you it was a pain in the ass just getting the assemblies out when I was at the yard. I would be interested in a door if it were factory delphin. I've heard horror stories of dealing with the door re-alignment upon re-installation :(

You need a few guys for re-alignment. I ended up chipping some paint when I misdiagnosed a squeaking door hinge. I ended up replacing it only to eliminate the possibility later to find out it was the door brake. UGH!! now it is still not aligned as my buddy needed to jet. two guys hold the door and one adjusts the 4 nuts. it's really subtle so you just have to know how much to loosen the nuts before the door gives. You know it will be slim to none to find Dolphin? Honestly..go with the lock approach. even if you got another door you will still have to go in and replace the lock which means taking everything off anyway. Go the extra mile and remove the latch.

I recently had this problem too. Suddendly I couldnt lock from my trunk or drivers door. I decided to start tracing the problem. From the trunk actuator I found this.

basically this prevented me from locking the trunk and activating the central lock!... leading to all the doors being unlockable

Then I thought the same thing happened to my drivers door actuator since I couldnt physically push the door pin down. I couldnt figure out how to reach the screws to the actuator. So I ended up pounded the actuator to force the door pin into a locking position.

Now I can lock the drivers door from the inside, and lock the passenger door with they key. Still not sure what the hell happened to my lock system.

well now, there is another possibility. I did change my actuator just to eliminate the most obvious first. :-) hoping it was just that...then I went to the module..still no success; then I figured it has to be the lock mechanism.. sure enough. be thankful you only had to change the actuator..LOL..

ok I got a central locking unit from a friend and guess what? It works and I am back to the original state by locking and unlocking through the trunk....I just can't lock the driver's door manually. I may take you up on that offer of a door. If you would be kind enough to work out shipping to 11963 and I can get some finances in order to fund this adventure.

m42sport....does that mean there is a dual locking system in the e30. one for use in the trunk and one for the driver's side?

Yeah u can lock frm the trunk then lock frm the doors so that the slot on the lock cylinder is parallel to the ground

as far as my problem. Is it as easy as replacing the actuators? I'm not able to lock the drivers door with the key either

does the fuel door no longer lock either for u guys?
