My dad has been doing a lot of highway driving lately and he wants to get a little better gas mileage. He doesn't really care to drive around fast so a 3.73 is a little too short for him. He currently has an open diff so he doesn't care to upgrade it at the moment. So I need an open diff between the ratios 3.25 to 3.73 to go in his 92 vert. Thanks guys.

I'd venture to say it won't help much.
Ditching the rag top for a hard top will make a noticeable difference consumption at high speeds.
Smooth metal surface slips thru the air much easier than rough canvas.Comment

Ya it probably wont make a huge difference but he drives a couple of hours on the highway every weekend so i think the reduction in gearing will eventually be worth the cost.
