    WTB: M42 + Transmission

I'm looking for an M42 longblock including wiring harness and ECU. I don't need a power steering pump or AC compressor, but an alternator would be nice, but not required. I also need a 5-speed transmission to go with it (Getrag 240). I'm in Bend, OR so it needs to be fairly close.

    Thanks!

I thought they came with the 260? Either way, I just want whichever came with the M42 stock. This will be going in my MG, so I need basically the full drivetrain, minus the diff.

Andrew, you need a 240 (late model). The 260 will not work.

Cool. What I found online said that 318i's came with the 240, but that the 318is came with the 260/5. Good to know what will actually work.

At first look, it seemed like it wasn't going to fit, but I was able to measure an engine in person and now I think I can make it work.

                              M42 and Tranmission

The 318is and 318i (with M42s) both came with the same transmission a 240. We have several of each of the cars in the family and they take the same transmission. I have an M42 and a 240 available in Seattle. Coming to Grass Valley, north of Bend first weekend in October so I could get it that far with no shipping. Email me offline at busbeagle@aol.com
