found one at the junkyard, the seat backs with the springs and metal backing hook up to the e30s which had foam backed OEM seats right?1991 318is --- currently not road worthy

Yes it will fit, you might have to switch your seatbelt receivers though, early model and late model have different spots for the middle receiver. I had the same problem, as I have an 89, and the only fold down black vinyl seat I could find was the older horsehair variety. It fits fine though.
I have yet to see a foam black vinyl rear seat with fold down arm rest.Comment
