found one at the junkyard, the seat backs with the springs and metal backing hook up to the e30s which had foam backed OEM seats right?

Yes it will fit, you might have to switch your seatbelt receivers though, early model and late model have different spots for the middle receiver. I had the same problem, as I have an 89, and the only fold down black vinyl seat I could find was the older horsehair variety. It fits fine though.

I have yet to see a foam black vinyl rear seat with fold down arm rest.
