Damn. Well, there's a good link in one of those threads that talks all about roof racks. You may be able to find a part #.

Yeah i pmed him. He said it sold a long time ago. But i found the part number off realoem.com and called Tischer, they didnt have it in stock but they said they could order it. But judging on how rare they are i'm not so sure that they can order it, they didnt really seem like he knew what he was talking about in the first place but idk

I've been looking for 3 years lol. One sold on here for like $500 2 years ago. AFAIK even though its NLA from the dealer there is a backorder on them frm them. Only hope is that BMW will run a small batch of them to fullfill the backorder frm customers that have already paid for them. You really need to contact all the bmw dealerships in the US and get some parts guy thats willing to investigate this for you. Otherwise its just some douche that will say whats a e30?

here are some pics i have

I know you can still get these from the dealership. They are the strips that attach the base of the roofrack to the hardtop

here is the mechanism inside the base of the roofrack.

I dont think this is a unique design

I've noticed that OEM racks for newer model cars, like mercedez, VW, have a similar style roofrack base. but I cant find any pictures on how they attach exactly. Maybe you can retrofit roofracks from other cars? Of course that wont be OEM then.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the official load limit rating for the hardtop is 66lbs

I was just gonna use it for my snowboard so I don't have to hang it out of the trunk and bungee it shut, so the 66lb limit won't be a problem.
