There's no difference between e and i axles.

The difference is whether or not the car has ABS.

+1 on "where are they breaking" and why?

Sounds like there's a problem elsewhere.

2 drivers inner CV's and 1 passenger inner CV. Theyre breaking because theyre garbage. Ive had this problem with an M20 in front of them before. And its not like im just driving around and theyre breaking, I am wailing on the car and its always under a 1-2 shift, when the back end brakes loose and then starts to stick, shotgun noise and no more go. Stock axles are 23424234 times better. And you guys are correct there is only ABS and non ABS 6cyl axles. I was for some reason thinking of the front strut tubes.

                so yeah. Anyone!?!?!?!?

e and i axles are different. I swapped the axles from 89 325i into my 87 325e, i axles have much bigger CV's. Both cars have ABS. I think e cars share axles with the 318's.
