      pretty sure I have a 1990 MN title for a 325 but its a 4D.. or I have 86' 2D 325E..

Ill have to check on the others.

both of those cars have been scrapped, but I do have the titles for em'.

Might want to check into this a bit more. I understand you plan to keep the car forever, etc- but say you get the title from another car, then you use that VIN to get the car registered and insured. You start driving it and everything is great.

Then one day you R3V your car into a bus full of nuns. No one gets injured, but the car is totalled and there's a bunch of damage to the nun's bus. No biggie, you've got insurance right? BUT, then one of the insurance adjusters notices that the VIN on your insurance policy and the VIN on your car don't match- so you don't have ANY insurance on the car- they completely wash their hands of any liability.

          You're F'ed.

Sure, it might not ever happen, but it definitely could. Is it worth it?

I'd do some more research and find out how hard it would be to get the actual title to the car. Talk to someone at PA DMV, not a Notary.

I came across a similar situation when I lived in Maryland,, the answer was, if I was to apply for an abandoned car situation, the state would take ownership of the vehicle, and they would put it up for auction.. Even though I paid for the car with no title, maryland would take ownership immediately, auction it, you could bid on it, but if you didn't win, it then would belong to someone else...
I took the same course of action that OP did, because I didn't wanna risk losing my car, and the state of maryland making money on it.. (F that...)
Insurance is an issue tho, you could be facing serious trouble if you ever hit said bus full of nuns and they all said that their necks hurt afterwards... good luck man, either way its a shitty situation...
              Project e30 m3 starts now..... :D
