Ask around town, find a shop that builds cages for some of the local roundy-round guys. You might make out better having them build you a bar than spending $$$ to buy a premade bar + then pay for shipping. Shouldn't be too hard for them to build you a good bolt in bar- they can even build it just the way you want it.

He asked, I supplied. Not just aimless company whoring. Big difference.

Sure, if you like bars that have horrible X braces, bad fitment, and destroy the backs of your seats.... ;) But if its just for a sig line mod, its the way to go!

Rigmaster also makes a good point, sometimes its hard to find a local guy though.

Funny, mine fits very well, much better than Kirk IMHO but yes your dad makes nice bars too

Sorry, I mixed up the Kirk & Autopower X-braces. My mistake.

Autopower does indeed fit better than Kirk. My last understanding was that Autopower no longer produced e30 bars though...

And yes, shipping can be prohibitive. I didnt notice where he was located. Thanks Matt. :pimp:

                    yes, hence the "wink".

And I'll add that I have heard through sources of unknown credibility on this here intraweb that autopower bars are not so good. I have no personal knowledge of that, though.

Were I ever to decide that I needed one, I'd probably get an experienced guy to fab one up.

                      Thanks for all the replays.

I just checked out the Autopower and the VSR and noticed that both of them are made on the west coast. I have a feeling that shipping would kill any deal I get. I guess I'll look around locally.

I'm still interested in buying a used one with-in a 6-7 hour drive from Memphis though.

                      Thanks

                        VSR moved! SWEET!

kirk is in alabama. imo all bolt in bars are a compromise.

VSR is located on the East coast. New Hampshire to be exact.

                          Cheers,

I guess I wasnt paying much attention to the locations, but I got the general idea that they were not close to redneckville :)

Are there any significant design flaws in the Kirk bar? Doesn't seem like it is popuplar around here.

                            Thanks for the info guys

this is what i noticed when comparing my kirk and my neighbors old ap bar, both in the same car:

kirk was closer to the roof
                              ap hugged the b-pillar closer
ap mounts to the frame rail (requires re-routing of fuel lines)
                              kirk mounts to the floorboard
both come with shitty hardware (i recommend with minimum grade 8, i replaced everything with 10.5 and new nylocks.)
both come unpainted (they come in a some crappy protectant paint for the metal, but i would definitely spray them before installation.)

pricewise, they are pretty similar. i jumped on a kirk cause it was local (bryson needed crack money). vsr is probably the sweetest one, but i've never actually seen on the west coast. when it comes down to it, all bolt in bars offer a compromise, if you want the best of everything, go with a custom bar. a local got a bar installed in his e36 at an offroad shop. they used above grade DOM, powdercoated it, and installed it for 500ish.
