somehow the odds of this i feel are astonomical, but both the tailight housings the bulbs plug into, the "middle" breaklight bulb (5008's) on both sides the circuit burned out. thought it was the bulbs (obviously) at first, so i went and bought two new ones and installed them, still not turning on, so that incredibly annoying brake light warning light on the check panel is constantly on now, and apparently I need to replace both bulb housings.
