I bought new seats, and discovered that my 1985 seatbelt tongues won't fit into the newer buckles. Dang.
Fortunately, I work at a seatbelt factory!
If I can get hold of some compatible tongues, I can take my seatbelts out, properly sew in the right tongue, and be golden. I already took care of the fronts with 100% new non-BMW parts, but the rears will be a lot easier to do with OEM stuff. Among the dozens of BMWs being parted out there, I'm betting that 95% of the seatbelts head to the crusher- so I'm sure someone out there has some tongues for me!
I don't actually know what year the seatbelts changed over. I am pretty sure that I know 1985 to be 'early' and that the buckles I have are 'late'- can anyone confirm?
Thanks!
