WTB: Title for white e30, or "empty" e30

This is really my own fault, but here goes:

I live in GA, a friend (and I thought quite knowledgable fellow, owner of a body shop) informed me that after having my car totalled by the insurance company and then fixing it myself it would be easy to get retitled as "rebuilt."
(I had an incident where a raised manhole cover shattered my oilpan and cracked my steering rack in half)

Well, after lots of work and money putting an s50 into my e30 and getting everything just right, I am finding that it will be nearly impossible (or is QUITE cost-prohibitive) for me to actually get a rebuilt title for this very car.

So I'm looking at cheating the system, I guess, and trying to find someone with a white e30 title that they've got from something wrecked or lying in their junkyard or parted out or whatever - a title to a white e30 that I can buy. I guess maybe that means the VIN plates too.

The other thing I've thought of is trying to buy a clean e30 shell, with a blown motor or no motor or something of that shape. That'd have to be more local to GA, though, and as bad as it is I would rather go illegitimate than swap all of my work onto a chassis that is not the one I've spent so much time on....

So I guess I'm looking for a couple of things, or even some suggestions. Anyone else out there been in a similar situation? I am VERY interested in any titles and such for white e30s....

    Thanks very much -Nick

Find an e30 near you with a blown motor and do the swap. Not much else you can do. Why so hard to get the title?

Here in KY, you pay about 75 for an inspection and then once it gets a clean bill of health -you get a title.

Please note that I posted what I did admittingly and it was more of an asking for advice than anything else. Buying another e30 is probably what I'll do, the shell idea would be best, really.

It's unfortunate that me, an enthusiastic e30 owner who wants some ideas, gets absolutely slammed on one of the very first posts I've ever put here after months of lurking. So, thanks.

Yeah, it's amazing how lax it is in some other states. Unfortunately here in GA I have to have the car rebuilt by a "licensed rebuilder" (which I COULD become myself after a couple of thousand dollars...). KY and NC and some others sound like wonderful places to have this all done...

I should have done more research before I took the insurance money and the salvage title, it just seemed like such a nice way to offset the cost of an s50.

stop being a baby, you weren't slammed, you were asking for help in your trek to federal pound me in the ass prison...

Im sure its not that bad to get the inspection and get the car registered...

And even if someone was stupid enough to go through with this, Im hoping they arent stupid enough to make it public on a forum viewed by god knows who...

Buy a spot in a trailer park in Jacksonville, register the car to that and enjoy a life with no emmisions or inspections.

You're right. I don't really know why that is.

Dans comments are FAR from a slam. Wait till Jordan reads this thread ;)
IF you truely wanted advise then this wouldn't be a "WTB" post.

                    Good luck though

Because they post stupid shit like "how can I swap VINs on cars" or "lowen Deisgn took my money, anyone ever deal with them?"

fuck everyone including the federal government. When was the last time someone checked your VIN? never. Be as shady as possible. I have a buddy with a jeep who did the same thing. no problems 4 years ago, none today. And that's in massachusetts, a state where they look for reason to fuck you. I think up here the legitimate way is called a salvage title. But screw that shit, look harder, you'll find one.

It's true, this wouldn't be a WTB thread if I just wanted advice. I guess I shouldn't have been so offended to be a person "willing to commit fraud." I'm not asking how to swap VINs, by the way, as it's a pretty exhausted practice around here.

I feel similarly about the federal and state government as the crapstar guy, but I think that's the socialist coming out in me. I, like many other people, would like to see some return for the taxes I pay.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and ideas everyone.

Explain to me how this isn't saying you want to swap out VINs?

"How can I swap VINs on cars" would be me asking the procedure to remove an old VIN plate/etc and apply a new one to my vehicle.

I was not asking how to do this, I was asking if anyone would sell me their VIN plates and title.
