looking for a set of Main bearings for my 1988 325i, production date is 09/87. if you have a set of rod bearings i will take them too. mine are making too much of a ticking sound. just need a good set :D shipped to 11377

Not how it works man. Once the bearings have been installed and used, they're matched to the intricacies they were placed in. Think of them as being machined in unison to match each other. Because that's exactly what happens.....

I believe he is running a M20 and wants to swap in a M50.
Ticking is usually excessive valve clearance or injectors.
Adjust the valves if you haven't, check that the adjusters are not pitted and worn and that the valve stems are not dished. You might try adjusting with the feeler gauge on the cam side but you will need to compensate the gauge thickness.
Replacing main bearings in an installed motor is not fun or easy and they typically don't wear excessively. When replacing rod bearings you should replace rod bolts as well and they typically don't tick but knock.Comment
