    WTB m30b35 Engine

Contemplating an m30 swap into my e30 vs my original m20 turbo idea.

Im in need of an m30b35 & a manual transmission to go along with it. Was looking at junkyard engines but prefer to purchase one with a history and that is known to be running.

Pm me if you've got one! Located in the SoCal area.

Just remembered this....Not sure if he's there still, but there use to be "Jim@theshop" on there (his username was close to that) that ran (or worked for) a BMW recycler there in SD - I think they are still around. So you might see if you can hit him up - he's a good guy, and knows his stuff. Good luck. I LOVE my m30b35. With that said, feeling the HP bug now after many years - I'm aiming for a m60 swap. About the same price if you can do fabracation/welding, and can take 3-4 times as long to get it done. Good luck! PM me if you have any swap questions.

I'll definitely give that a shot! You're probably thinking of AutoBahn and I've surprisingly haven't checked that place out yet! And your build actually helped inspire me to go towards the m30 haha I'll definitely be sending some pm's with some questions that are still unanswered after my research thus far. Thanks!

Didn't want to PM because, cause.

I was going to do an m30 swap but just got tired. Here is a list of all the parts I have, and the parts that are needed.

            Good:
            • 1990 m30b35 bottom end that's in great shape, on a stand (175K)
            • 1989 m30b35 head that has good valves in it (pulled from a yard, no idea on mileage)
            • Full intake manifold with injectors (need cleaning)
            • Exhaust manifolds
            • Full exhaust system from 1990 735iL I pulled the bottom end from
            • Intake with AFM through to the air-box
            • Getrag 240 from an early 318i car that was pandaboi's (untested, but he said it was good)
            • 1972 2002tii m10 228mm flywheel that bolts up to the crank of the m30 and accepts stock m20 cluch stuff
            • Two spark plug wire sets (both used)
            • e30m30 swap engine mounts
            • Polyurethane e30m30 engine mounts (brand new)
            • New water pump
            • Alternator tested great when I removed it
            • Starter tested great when I removed it
            • Pedal assembly (If yours is auto)
            • Probably some other crap too

            Bad or parts you'll need
            • The motor is torn down to a short block, head is off, intake is off all ready for cleaning
            • Needs new head gasket
            • You'll need m10 shifter plate setup as well as shiftier linkage
            • You'll need transmission cross brace (hadn't gotten there yet)
            • Clutch slave cylinder and stuff that goes with that
            • You'll need the drive shaft stuff

So basically, if you want a semi-basket case, have time and a place for all this stuff, PM me and let me know if you are interested. I've probably got $750 into everything so far and I would say I am 85% there in terms of parts.
            Si vis pacem, para bellum.
