Yeah, I wasn't sure and didn't feel like doing the research, thanks.
No, I haven't put the plastics yet. Next week I'll be on vacation, and all I'm doing is working on the car. Plastics, Z3 rack, and some other goodies. I can't wait. and I'll post pics just like I promised.
Late style plastic bumpers and valence will mount right up to the front of ANY non-m e30. The rear is a different story because the arches were different until 88' when they switched to the plastic bumper style. HOWEVER, cabrios had the later style arches throughout their entire production run (even the early models), and plastic bumpers will mount to the rear of any e30 cabrio without the modification needed for coupes and sedans. This is probably more info then was needed but I just thought I would clear up any confusion.
I thought (again) that the retard arches kinda canx'd the effects of a lowering spring to a certain effect...
e.g.
A late model E30 will "look" lower with the same springs as an early model E30.
Is this correct, or am I totally high on batshit?

You're high on batshit- but I see what you're saying.
The REAR arches do sort of have this effect- the early cars have higher and longer arches (at least they LOOK higher and longer). So, when you lower an early and late car the same amount, the late car LOOKS sort of lower in the rear than the early car- because of the arches.
Fronts are the same........did I mention that??? :)
My 1990 just received a DS fender from a 1986 that kindly became an organ donor. Fits just fine - any fitment problems are the result of the hack mechanic who installed it, not any difference in the part.
As Bret might have mentioned, THEY ARE THE SAME!!!!!!!
