Which radio? There were several different models that came in E30s and they are not all plug-and-play. Some cars came with Premium Sound, some with the fader control wheel located in the dash instead of in the actual radio, etc.

RIGHT!
I have a 1990, so anything from that generation. Premium sound.
The 90 with Premium Sound should have come with the CM5908 "Pyramid" radio (with the infrared finger slider slot). My '89 325is came with this as did my friend's '90 325i.
But my '88 325is came with the CM5907 (with seek buttons on the left and separate Treble and Bass slider levers on the right). This setup had the front/rear Fader Wheel insert in the dash next to the defrost and hazard buttons.
What does your car have now? Do you know if the factory speaker connectors are present in the radio area? Is there a Fader Wheel in your dash?
I was able to install my 89's Pyramid Radio into my '88 (removed the Fader Wheel) but i think i had to get a harness adapter or sumthin so the radio's built-in fader interfaced with the Fader Wheel connections. Can't remember tho . . .
