I would be willing to bet that the windows and associated hardware weigh in less than 10 pounds...

the real reason I wan the roll ups is they don't break. Mine motors have always been good but my friend has gone through 2 on the same side in 1 yr. The less weight is just a plus

This makes no sence at all. If yours are good, keep em' Take weight off by doing something else. Arent you going turbo? I think the turbo should be able to pull the window motors around just fine.

roll up windows are ghetto. plus they weigh more than the electric ones. it also sounds like your friend has larger problems than the regulators if he's gone through two.

umm, u ever notice the whole in yer door card where the motor is? you can stick an allen wrench in there and move the window, just make a custom handle with an allen wrench inside and viola, manual windows. this mod would go well with your front spoiler...

This is true, BUT only for the early (pre-88) cars.......... Later cars do not have the emergency window crank option.

I sent an early 318i to the crusher this week that had manual crank windows...........sorry.

I didn't know that the roll ups weighed more, it still would be nice to know that they wouldn't ever break. Whatever ;)

(BMW) Power windows have been reliable since the mid 80s :)

My experience only. The E36 windows have issues though
