I need a working antenna for my 88 is. the antenna broke in half can you just put a new part on or do you have to buy the whole motor assembly?

you can put a new mast in your motor, take out the whole assembly, crack the motor case open, and replace.Comment

Factory antennas are Hirschmann. Check your local stealership for a price.
Browntown was close on mast replacement, but not quite the easiest way.
Remove the top nut and turn your radio on. slide the entire mast out using the motor. Slide the end of the nylon strip in adn turn the radio off, usnig the motor to pull the mast into the antenna. Reinstall top nut and you are done.
If the nylon strip is broken, you will need to remove the motor and untherad the last bit of it.
