WTB: M20 less than 170k miles

Good condition preferably, good head and block and oil pan.

Want to pick one up and start working on it so I can drop it in my car in a few years.

    Socal preferably (read: rede30)

I have one. More miles on the bottom end, but less than 1K on the top. I'm in OC too.

I have an excellent motor with 61k miles on it.

I am pulling the motor any day now but if you are interested in buying this motor let me know. I'm in Carlsbad.

My main concern is about how much you guys want for your motors. I don't have a blank checkbook to work with and I am a poor college student.

Just to put it in perspective, I paid $300 for an unknown M42. You can spend less, but I will tell you that the valve job alone is up to $400. Even if you found a motor for free, add up what you would pay for a valve job, head gasket, head bolts, water pump, spark plug wires, belts, hoses, etc. just to do the top end. Don't take my word, check out Bav Auto or Pelican Parts.

What ever you decide, good luck. If you need a motor you seem to have two good choices here.

I'm looking for a couple heads, actually, because a friend of mine is offering to practice his schoolwork on one head, and then I would have a friend's dad do the other head.

Sorry, I should've mentioned that whether or not the motor is running doesn't matter to me because it will be torn down and built back up anyway. As long as the main parts are in good condition, it's okay.
