The title says it all, I want an E30 M3 rear muffler. I don't mind if it is stock or aftermarket, I'm just after a used one for the 335i. Its time to build the exhaust, suckas! :pimp:

Poop, i threw mine away.
What about glasspacks? Running twin glasspacks on mine, only cost like $50, make sure you get Thrush though, i got mine at Advance, others are restrictive louvered core.
Headers, X-pipe, 2" pipes.
Quiet on the inside, loud outside.

Hmmm, I could deal with that, it sounds good!
Im just having a hard time with the cost vs time vs performance thing. The stock 6 series pipes are only ~46mm ID at the manifolds, with a 50mm ID downpipe, into two 50mm ID pipes to the back. This is fine for 218hp, and when you do the math, even a 2.5" ID single pipe system flows nearly the same cc's.
So I'm thinking either a Y pipe off the stock downpipe, into two 2" pipes to the back, into an M3 muffler.
OR
A reducer / expander that will go from the 50mm piece to a single 3" pipe that I can cut, bend and weld easily, through a glasspack and a muffler. It would be a ton cheaper this way, Im just not sure that a single pipe setup will flow as well... The good thing I guess, it that I am planning on headers for the M30, so when I get them I will do a real dual pipe setup with an X pipe.
I guess if it was tolerable inside the car I wouldn't really even need a muffler. The car is being registered in an area without emissions inspections, so I can pretty much freestyle it. I just want it to be reasonable so that I can take the thing out on roadtrips.'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5Comment

From my reading a dual set-up will provide the best power through-out the revs and a single will provide only top end.
Which will provide the biggest power increase overall, i don't know. Roadtrips are no problem with my set-up, turn on the radio and i don't notice the exhaust.
I went with dual since it's my everyday driver and two pipes will keep noise down more than one.
My only complaints is that on a totally stock motor, my powerband is now raised past my rev limiter, if you notice, i hit rev limiter, that was my first time flooring it with the new exhaust, i was like "Why is my engine cutting out...?" *looks down* "WTF? it was just starting to pull good"Comment

Well, I'm theorizing that it will make the 3.5 feel a little livelier if I can free up the top end. Generally, in the 6ers that I have driven (just three, all euro 3.5s) they pull freaking hard up to about 5500rpm and then pretty much dive off quickly approaching 6000rpm, even though the peak power is made at 5800 according to the books. Peak torque is a little over 232ft/lbs at 4200rpm, so raising both of those up a bit shouldnt hurt performance in an E30, since the 3.5 has 191ft/lbs available from about 2100 all the way past 5000rpm on average.
If peak power hit around 6000rpm, it would be an absolute riot to drive. Especially with the 3.25LSD, she should be very illegal using just 3rd and 4th gear!'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5Comment
