It's a two piece part that goes under the dash by the steering wheel and covers the wiring under there.

Are you talking about the two peices....one right under the steering wheel and the other covers the peddles and upper section??

I have these from an 89i auto.

Is this one of the pieces?

I have it and the auto lower pice as well.

ya those are the pieces Im talking about. For some reason I thought the late model and early model's had a difference.

Tom, that's the top piece from a late-model knee bolster from an airbag car. The early model and non-airbag panels are the one-piece black fiberboard panel.

You can have both of them for 15 bucks....dollars that is. The lower cover isn't in great shape but still works. I don't know if the lower section is the same for autos and manuals though.
The lower cover has a small hole in it but if you painted it, it could look pretty good.

                Are they interchangeable?
The new style ones are plastic, right?

If you're asking me...this one looks like a formed foam with vinyl over it.
The lower section is a thick looking "card board" painted.
