Steering Knuckle / E36 Steering Parts

I've got weird steering. About 10 degrees in either direction off center, steering effort goes up, then gets easier. Return to center doesn't happen in many cases -- you have to turn the wheel back to center when exiting a turn.

Alignment checks out ok. Mechanic thinks that the knuckle/u-joint assembly is bad. He demonstrated one end of the U-joint sticking after he had the rack disconnected.

A different mech figures the rack is on the way out.

I need new tie rods and boots anyway. I'm wondering if now is the time to do an E36 rack conversion.

Either way - I need a replacement steering knuckle / u-joint. Anyone have one? Anyone sell _just_ the modified knuckle to put in an E36 rack in a non-airbag car?

Anyone have an E36 setup (rack, knuckle, tie rods, boots, etc) in good shape they want to unload?
