BTW, those PS pumps are specific, m20 and m10 pumps wont work

Does anyone know if the plastic trim pieces behind the headlights are m42 specific? I can't find them on realoem.

The headlight backing plates are 3-piece. They should work for ALL e30s, not M10/M20 specific as far as I know.

There are two large plates, and the driver's side plate has a corner cut out of it where this plate goes. This plate is what the airbox intake elbow goes into:

I have one of these small corner pieces for sale.

We don't have the plate pictured here on the '91 318is, the backing plate is different for us. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Hmm. Oddly enough, the part that I have installed in my car does not come up when I do a search in RealOEM using my VIN. When I do a part-vehicle search with one of the part numbers stamped on it, I get this:

                COVERING, LEFT, 51711965243

The other part number on it, 51711965245, comes back for an M3. As embossed on the part, it has

                51.71-1 965 245.9

                51.71-1 965 243.0

There is an arrow pointing downward from the 245 number to the 243 number, so I'm guessing it represents supercession. The part is date-coded correctly, showing manufacture in May of 1990, so despite the part number coming back for an older, M10-equipped 318i, it seems to be correct.

In either case, the part looks to be correct. I'm not going to go through the nutroll of trying to link to their image, but the page is here, part number 10.

Thanks for the taking your time to do the research. I might as well get those items new, they're cheap enough. One more thing: can someone verify that pn 51481945429 is for the heat shield, located over the rear muffler? Thanks again. I assume all used ones are in the same shape as mine - rusted to crap.

It looks right. When in doubt, take yours to the dealer and say "I need one of these," let the parts monkey figure it out. Then, if it's not the right one, you can return it. That's the problem with some of these parts, the picture sometimes doesn't really look like the part and it is hard to tell what is the right part. I have several extra pieces that I've ordered that turned out to be the wrong one, but since I special ordered it from BMA, they are not returnable. :( With the dealer you'll pay more, but at least if you bring in your part and have them order a new one, it's their fault if it's wrong... :D

For the price of that one, I would order it and see what comes.
