    WTB: 2.8 L aluminum engine

I've got some big plans for the spring, and they involve getting ahold of an aluminum 2.8 liter M52 as seen in the late '90s Z3. To make my life easier in the short term, it would be nice to find an engine with accessories/wiring/ecu, and finding an accompanying transmission would be even nicer.

Searching the archives, I saw that aluminum block come across the classifieds a while ago, and with the interest in 24v swaps, I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.

I'm located in boston, but I would not have a problem driving a ways to pick up the right motor.

PM if you can help me out.

Any suggestions on where to look for one? I've been checking out the usual forum classifieds, and every now and then I'll stop by craigslist or ebay, but am I missing any good resources?

I might have one for you. Do you need a complete, or just an aluminum block?

e30s are like fat girls that USED to be hot, you just gotta work them out to make them hot again.

Ideally I'd like the whole thing, but I'd entertain the idea of piecing this thing together. I'm not in a huge hurry to get the engine into a car, so I have the luxury of time and options.

            PMs sent.

Heres what I found that we have...

the short block. Just the block and internals.

I have a bad feeling that the cost of shipping a short block coast to coast will be prohibitive, but what your asking for it?

Give Bimmerworld, Chuck Stickley(CSS Motorsports I think) and Don Fields a call. They all keep a nice sized inventory of spare motors and are on your side of the country.

Is this for your '02 or your e30?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Niiiicce. I've pretty much decided I will go this direction as well. Although the S14 should keep me happy for a year or two.
