I live in Encinitas, right below Oceanside and Have a Getrag 260 I've been looking to sell. I pulled it from a spare parts car I bought a while back, I talked with the previous owner and all was well with the car untill the water pump went out on him. He took it to the mechanic who'm R&Red the water pump and when they were done the car wouldn't start. Now if you know anything about E30's you'll know there has been many service bulletins on this exact symtom where the water pump was replaced the after the car wouldn't start. this is due to the imporer routing of an oil pressure switch which can get cut by the fan blade and thus creating a no start condition. So after hearing his story and looking at the car, sure enough I saw the Wiring to the switch had been severed. I purchased the car however never fixed the problem as my intention was to strip it for it's parts and convert my car into a stroker and part the rest.
Whole point of the story is I never drove the car so I'm unsure of the condition of the tranny and anything else for that matter. However the past owner said everything was working great untill the water pump incident. So I'm just saying that it's somewhat of a gamble. I did however remove the tranny from the engine very carefully, not putting any stress on the spindle shaft during removal. Drained the fluid and found it to be clean and without metal shards, so this leads me to believe the tranny is in good shape.
I'm asking $260 for the tranny, your welcome to come by and pick it up any time (today if you so desire). The car had 168,xxx miles on it.... so I assume the tranny also has 168,xxx miles on it.
