Thanks guys! After thinking it over I am looking for one thats not anatomic. The wheel I have is very 70s-80's looking so I'm trying to find a ball type or maybe one that resembles the mushroom shaped e30 shift knob.
lol i just replyed to your PM but the e12 on i have is that very mushroom shape, i think your best bet would be to get an e21 knob i think they are the best of both, the wooden mushroom and clip on
i just bought the factory saucer type walnut one on ebay a couple weeks ago for cheap. it was an auction from one of the members here. it needs to be refinished, but damn, so cool. they are out there. just be patient. make sure the plastic inside isn't broken or it will annoyingly slide all over every time you reach for the knob. you can buy an alpina from ksk for about 150 or so. speaking of which, i would like to replace the bmw roundel inside with one that says alpina.

I've been making wooden shift knobs from exotic hardwoods for MINI Coopers. I use a stainless steel adaptor from Doug Whalen that fits BMWs and 2007+ MINI Coopers with manual transmissions.
