    E30 Manual Sunroof Handle

Greetings fellow elders, The handle for my manual sunroof finally broke after 31 years. I'm looking for a replacement handle and plastic rectangular piece that come as a unit. eBay has ridiculous prices, so I thought I'd turn to my kindred spirits for some assistance. If you have the part in great condition, please let me know, and we'll work it out. Thanks so much! This is what the eBay prices are like for genuine OEM parts https://www.ebay.com/itm/283543540854 Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

The aftermarket ones can also work, esp. for 1/10 the price.

I saw one on eBay, for like 28 bucks, it had good reviews, but some bad ones as well. The bad ones called it flimsy, not durable? But pelican is a good source? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Yeah, the pelican one is the same inexpensive one on eBay, made by MTC parts. eBay user's reviewed it as flimsy, and they were sure it would be dangling after not too long, or snap off completely. But you haven't had any issues? The BMW one is over 200 bucks. Not sure if that's paying for quality or the name? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

If your MTC one fails you can often store the handle deployed flat on the interior. Not exactly a stunning solution, but it works perfectly well.

I'm totally with you on that, but my particular E30 "Otto", is a 89 with only 64k miles on it, all original, and I'm trying to keep it all mint, collector grade. That's why I wanted OEM, to last forever, but I guess I can buy several MTC ones, and swap them out everytime it fails. If it weren't a "unicorn", I wouldn't care either. I'm sure you can understand Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I see your point. Nice low miles.... After my morning cruise... i decided to put a dot of velcro on the knob and up inside the hole... no more danglin hanger. don't know why I didn't think of that years ago... sent from hell using Tapatalk

A small magnet would also fit, and there's space for another one behind the trim panel. Of course, being a BMW, it would need to be a conditionally switched electromagnet.

lmaf... i think I like this idea... i could use the front battery space to hold the extra battery for the electromagnet power source... now where to put the switch... Watch your fingers when it engages!! sent from hell using Tapatalk

You guys are hilarious, but also have some good ideas. That's a beautiful seven you have there, where did you get that grille emblem with the German colors? I really want a car club emblem, but am not sure if I want to join the club, lol. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
