Here is a fair set up. It is inexpensive (for the general set up), sounds decent (not like a fart can), can be full stainless (with the addition of the midpipes), and you can choose whether it is single or dual (piping & tip).

Again just an idea. If it's not for you just post what you would like to be different. I'm sure we can come up with something.

I definitely like the sound of that, do you know what kind of muffler he's running? Also, would there be a big difference in sound between the s52 in his car and an m30?

He's running a magnaflow muffler and cat. I'm just trying to get a feel for the sound you are looking for. It will sound a bit different for your application, but his set up is made up of single pipe leading into a Y for the dual headers.

If you know of a clip of an exhaust sound you are going for, post it up. I know a guy who engineers exhausts for chrysler, and actually compiled tons of sound clips to write a book over the sound.

Wow thats cool, thanks for the help! Ive mainly been looking at borla and magnaflow but those are both gona be etremely loud so I'm not sure. The exhaust is going to be going on an alpina b6 2.8 so the engine should be sporty enough to make a good tone, even if it isnt a 3.5l. Also its a 1984 and I live in washington so its old enough that I won't have to pass emissons, no cats needed:p. I got a flowmaster race muffler from some guy basically for free, I plan on using it as a resonator. Is this a good plan? I want to avoid rasp as much as I can

The plan so far is stock manifolds->2.5" pipe->flowmaster race muffler->2.5" pipe-> some muffler

Ill check out youtube asap and find some good sound clips

Here's a thread with some good ideas in it. I am still trying to come up with a solid system to start promoting. We are crunching numbers for flow/restriction right now. G/L

If I remember right it should be dual 2.25 straight to the magnaflow dual in/out muffler. We are still trying to figure out which model it is. The greatest thing about this is that he has an M30! Mind you that exhaust gets loud. In the video he only revved to 3k.

Yeah thats true, it sounds much different than most of the magnaflow mufflers ive heard in other videos, do you think that's because its not a 24v engine/an m20 or because of the dual pipes? Most of the single straight pipe to magnaflow systems ive heard on e30's sound very metallic

Thats why we are trying to figure out which magnaflow muffler it is. I thing the size of the engine has a little to do with it, but so does the receiver that is picking up the sound. The main thing is that it's one of the bigger magnaflow mufflers, not the little small one's that everybody buys for $130.
