OP, let me ask you this. Let's say I was thinking of spending $500-700 on DSLR.

What would be the reasons to purchase your camera, vs say the new D40 kits with two VR lenses and a warranty?

The d70 has built in lens motor for start but d70 image sensor is a little outdated though, especially when u get down to the nitty gritty IS0's at night. Can be fixed with decent lenses tho.decent amount of accesorys but nikon changed the battery so some of these won't work on newer DSLR's..

I had one for a long time. as a matter of a fact i would rather have it over the newer d60-90 series bodies. and the 18-70 once again is not only a nice all around lens, but very sharp, for what it is and has little to no vignette at 18 and or at 70
