          2nd gen. It is *exactly* the same as the 3rd gen 8gb. See this link:

            actually the processors are different, and the 3rd gen has twice as much RAM as well as a newer graphics chip.

            and depending on when it was built, it will have OS v2.x or OS v3.x, which is a $10 upgrade if it has 2.x currently.

            i'm not trying to poop on your thread- it's a good price, just curious of the gen. the 2nd gen touch has 6 hours more battery life, too.

              While that's true for the 32gb and 64gb, the 8gb model remains exactly the same as the 2nd gen.
