    WTB: E30 VIN and Title

Long story short. The guy I got the E30M3 from is in the pokey. I need to get this car on the road and sort the rest out later. The lien process in Hawaii is a nightmare.

So if you are parting out a chassis and an you have the title and VIN plaque, let me know. I don't care if the numbers come from a 318 or 325.

Not a smart post. You shouldn't involve anyone else in your illegality. Go find a parts car on the island.

Is he in the pen for grand theft auto?

It's actually not illegal to re-VIN a car unless of course it's been reported stolen. You just have to tell DMV you have changed the VIN. Then there is paper work as usual. So no illegalities here.

And not for GTA. Drugs I think, but that is just an assumption.

...by changing the VIN with the knowledge and intent to represent the car as a better automobile is fraud

C'mon Farbin, you of all people should not believe the shit you read on the net. I went to DMV and got the info and paper work. I think if it was illegal, they would have said no.

              ^ You are right I guess, you are de-valuing the m3 by a rebadge/registration as a 325e.

It's still wrong, and there are easier ways to get registration, like 30 days in a tow yard, then a lien sale to you, then legit registration with correct VIN number.

Yeah the devaluing is the problem which is why i'll sort out the title after the fact.

The mechanics lien process in Hawaii require a signature on a repair order from the registered owner, which I don't have.

So my thoughts are filing an abandoned vehicle lien if possible or using my automotive business license in California to file a mechanics lien if the procedure allows. Or possibly doing a abandoned vehicle lien in CA or MT where I also have address'.

Trust me I want the M3 title because if something were to unfortunately happen to the car, i'll want M3 money from the insurance. Not e/i/is money.
