WTB: Nikon SLRD3000 My wife needs Bad!

    Nikon SLR D3000
Wife is looking into getting into photography and has her heart set on
this camera, but if your a shutter bug and may have a better alternative
that would be worth looking into let me know.
She looking to do high quality pic's, low light shots, high shutter speed.
and the auto adjust settings until she learns more to be able to adjust things herself. She also wants to make sure that it has a strong enough zoom to take some shots from farther away but still get the details.

    thx

just so you know, the d3100 is the newer version of the d3000.

if she is looking at doing low-light shots, as in concert photography or sports, then she needs to pony up the dough because the low-end of SLRs, like the d3000, are not going to cut it.

As for "strong zoom", that all depends on the lens that attaches to the camera body. a good and cheap telephoto zoom lens for Nikons is the 55-200 VR.

if you are looking for a good deal then keep an eye on craigslist, but it sounds like you, or both of you, need to do some more research or ask more questions before buying an SLR camera. figuring out how much you want to spend is a good start.

      ^ this.

      check out DPReview.com and Kenrockwell.com

I have a 18-200 VR lens that I dont use any more, in great condition with original box and papers, and a UV filter that I could sell for $500
