Question on a item, I want to sell

ok, I need money. I am scrapping cars on the property as fast as I can load em.

I have an 1985 VW Jetta.
gas engine, but it had some red badging, I am not going out to look at it cause it is pouring rain and is only a few degrees above freezing.

was there any VW gas engines that were worth money from that era?
or just ship the whole damn thing for scrap??

not really worth a good amount. If it's running and complete a vw guy may want it. But its most likely an 8 valve motor and not worth much.

Well not worth much but they should be easy to sell, most of the vw engines of that era are interchangeable. VWVortex would be a better research spot imo.

If it's original, it's not worth much at all. Even if it's a GLI, it's going to have the high compression 1.8L 8v. Most people aren't going to bother putting in a 1.8L 8v when 2.0L engines will drop right in, and 16v's and 1.8t's are also pretty easy swaps. But yeah, post it up on vwvortex and see what people might give you for it.

awsome thanks guys. I am NOT a VW guy, my wife has a thing for old bugs, but thats its (64 and 72 donor) sounds like shes a scrapping, need money for the dirt car!
