Today I took some photo's of the 16x8 wheels. As you can see they are in need of a refinish, but beneath the ugly exterior is a solid set of hard to find 80's classics!
Wheel 1:

Wheel 2:

As you can see the the German winter salt likes to creep underneath the clear-coat and make little worm designs. This clear-coat is some kind of crazy 80's lacquer before people cared about EPA and pollutants. When I tried to sandblast the wheels, this clear-coat just laughed at the glass. Wheel 3 is the wheel I sandblasted, and as you can see, all it did was yellow the clear.

Wheel 3:

attempted sandblasting:

Wheel 4:
Like the sandblasting, the Lacquer just laughed at aircraft paint stripper. The stripper removed the clear on the lip in 2 coats, but the silver centers would not come off no matter how many coats I applied! :nono This is some serious paint!

Lips down to the bare metal, centers with original lacquer remaining after numerous coats of aircraft stripper applied.

I wanted to post a few photo's of what potential these wheel can have when refinished. Both of these guys were running 16x8 et 11 Rials, same ones pictured above. No need to do crazy colors like guys with style 5's or RS's do, just simple and clean... let the huge lips and great mesh do their work.
If anybody remembers digitalwave here on the forums, these wheels with full polished lips looked insane on his E36 sedan.

And on Justins outstanding '69 2500 in simple yet elegant solid silver.

I'm bookmarking this page for the ET11s if they still around when I can afford it for my E12... those are the sexiest vintage mesh wheels of all, to me it's the holly grail of deep meshes ... to meComment

Haha, thanks man. And I almost agree... I was never able to mount these due to a big brake kit, but my ACT meshies had a dish that would loose kittens in.

I purchased the 1st set from Eric and he is a great guy to work with. Irony is that I have been polishing the Rials I purchased as well. Here are some pics of my DD "polish" job. These wont win any polishing awards but that is the way I want them (Not to much bling).
Anyone who wants to polish these Eric has given you a good starting point.
Eric, would you consider selling two if I can sell my brand new 16x7's?
