An acid wheel cleaner should be able to clean that up very easily and quickly.
Good luck!Comment

Thanks for the info. We tried a few things and I just ran out of time to play with it. Since I'm selling my E30 and these wheels/tires are for sale too, and I have a new car, a kid, a job etc ... I'll let someone else take some time to try that. Any reasonable offer on these people, c'mon! :)Comment

Right now the wheels are being stored at my folks garage about a 20-minute drive away. I'd be happy to try to get over there this weekend to take a picture of the tread for you, if that is something you definitely need.
Be aware that these tires are brand spanking new. I've got the Tire Rack receipt right here next to me, they were purchased 10/07/2008 -- and I only drive the car to/from work (approximately 20 miles daily). So you do the math. I can take pictures if you need, but I'd be surprised if they have even 500 miles on them!Comment

Spacers were not necessary for me on my 325ix. RWD cars may vary -- but Tire Rack does list wheels of this same size/offset w/o spacers... so who knows!
Bad wheel bend is not visible, just something you feel in the car. Honestly it wasn't that bad ... I drove it on daily without problems. You noticed it mostly on the freeway, but even my wife/daughter rode in the car with me on the expressway a time or two and they never complained. :)
Hope that answers your questions..Comment
