it works, but the design needs to be updated as there are immediate problems when using it.
first: imagine trying to take out a lug nut with a round head after its been in the hub for a couple of months. i had to use a pipe wrench to get my insert out, which of course damaged the edges and i had to grind it back down to make it fit back into the spacer's matching hole.
secondly, when you try and tighten down the lug into this insert, the whole insert spins, causing it to come out of alignment with the wheel hole and putting bad stress on the insert, the lug, and the wheel.
third, the threaded hole in the insert is not as deep as the rest of the holes on the spacer, so you cant use the same length lug bolt to attach the wheel. i had to grind down one lug bolt for each wheel to use in the insert.
it was very annoying/frustrating using this style adapter, which is why i just went back to 4x100 wheels. for someone using them on a car which they drive occasionally, they'd be fine. for my car, which i drive everyday, not so much.Last edited by straight6pwr; 03-13-2012, 03:53 PM.

1: Do you not use antiseize when you install your lugs? It would be recommended. Steel / aluminum corrosion. This will be addressed an more detailed instructions will be given.
2: I do not believe you had the plug aligned properly then. Please do not take that as me saying you did something improperly, its just that i have ran these on my very own personal cars several times an never had the problem which you speak of nor have I received response from other members stating this.
3: This has been corrected with the addition of shallower bolts.
Hope this helps a little.

1. No, I don't use anti seize. I've driven a BMW for 8 years, and never once has a lug nut become even close to seized with normal use. Nor did the instructions included say to use anti seize. This isn't an instance of steel/aluminum corrosion anyhow. the hub is steel, the insert is steel. The force required to remove the plug is not great, however, its more than you can do with your fingers, which is all this design allows for.
2. I had the plug aligned properly. But, please do tell me your process for aligning the plug, so I may understand this apparently complicated feat.
3. Its funny you say corrected, yet at the time that I had the issue, MotorsportTech refused to acknowledge that it was a problem.

What is your goal here other than to remain pissed about a situation that happened some time ago. I have done everything I can to be cordial.
There are literally hundreds of these adapters on this forum in use yet I hear non of these claims elsewhere. I never once stated you doing something improperly nor did I state that this was a complicated feat, yet your demeanor seems to suggest I did.
I see this not a place for an argument so if you would like to pm me on said matter then i welcome your pm.
