very interesting. I heard that the E36 non-m spindles are slightly different in that they have a different caster angle, or strut mount angle, or offset between the hub axis and control arm mounting point....
I am not worried about E36 M3 braking power, my 318is stops ridiculously fast with stock rotors and Hawk HP+ pads, I am just worried about wheel placement/suspension geometry.
Can someone confirm that the E36 M3 and E36 non-M spindles are IDENTICAL other than the caliper mounting points?

As far as I know, the reason ppl don't use them is they don't generally work with M3 brakes. I have machined the caliper brackets so the M3 brakes work.
I know they work, because they are on the car...Leave a comment:

So I just want to get this straight. E36 non-M spindles work perfectly with this setup? Then why do they not work at all with any other setup, and why does nobody use them?Leave a comment:

If a standard CA mount will fit, so will these, as they are much smaller
From the centre of the inner-most bolt, it is 58 mm to the flat face, or 67mm to the outer corner.Leave a comment:

I am interested too I just need a measurement from the the bolt inner most bolt to the edge of the unit. I need to make sure that it will clear my headers.Leave a comment:

OK, I'm ready to pull the trigger and get these made. The will be machined up over there in the US, so I should be able to ship you guy's ones pretty cheaply.
I would need a deposit of $50 each to place the order.

So the bushing is basically not replaceable unless you get it custom made?Leave a comment:

It uses a custom bushing, as I didn't have access to the Delrin catalog.
The price is $250. If I get more than 10 orders total, I may be able to reduce this slightly.
With my setup, I'm running 17 x 8" E46 wheels, with 215 -45 tyres, with no rubbingLeave a comment:

I'd like to see the price.. I am interested though. Also, does this use the THR delrin bushing? If not, what replacement bushing does it use?
Just for everyones reference, right now I have the e36m3 everything in the front, and my slightly oversized tires rub on the back of the wheel arch. Having these move my tires forward a little would help with that rubbing. Currently I have the THR bushings.Leave a comment:

Yes,
No, wheel will be at least 15 mm back
Yes
It works like this:
At the moment, no matter what set-up you use, the wheel will be too far back in the arch. None of the CA mounts available have enough offset in them. These mounts have the absolute maximum offset that can be made.
Optimal set-up:
Custom CA Mounts
96+ Control Arms
M3 spindles
Result:
Wheel will be a little forward of centre.
E36 M3 brakes bolt on
My current set-up:
Custom CA Mounts
96+ Control Arms
Std E36 spindles
Result:
Wheel will be centered.
E36 brakes bolt on or E36 M3 brakes bolt on if you machine the caliper mounts. This is what I have)
Any other combination will result in the wheel being 10 to 40 mm behind centre, and larger wheels will foul the back of the inner wheel arch.
The $250 is the maximum. It is AUD, but the USD and AUD are so close at the moment it makes no difference,
I have a guy ready th manufacture in the US, and I'm waithg for a local quote. Shipping from Aust to US would't be more than $40.
Obviously cheaper for you guys if I go with the US quoteLeave a comment:

Very cool way to make the E36 5 lug swap have the correct wheel position. Good work! Subscribed to thread so I can find you when the time is right.

OK I still don't get it. If I buy these the wheel will be centered with non-M E36 fronts? If I just use regular offset bushings it will only be centered with the M3 front? I have regular e36 front brakes/hubs/knuckles on a parts/engine donor car, so if I use these mounts anPSd later E36M3 control arms, my wheels will be centered without having to buy M3 hubs/spindles?
PS: How much would shipping to US or Canada be? Is that $250 USD or AUD? Do you have a price guarantee that it won't go over a certain amount if we commit now? I'm assuming they're Delrin lined?Leave a comment:

Interested but i'm not ready just yet. I've researched it to death and have acquired the M spindles, brakes etc. Just need the control arms which are the sticking point at the price and TRM mounts or these. Seems you might have enough interest for a GB maybe the price can come down if you get enough people.Leave a comment:
