i'll try, the fact that i just discovered my autotragic is leaking fluid through the clutch packs doesn't help so any attempt to WOT the car at a standstill will result in total trans failure but i'll see what I can do right before I throw in a healthy trans next week

If you start it up without putting in gear you should be ok, it is when it has been in gear and you put it in park or neutral that there can be residual pressure and it can burn it out when r3vving.

Does that mean the proper procedure to park my car is to shut off the engine before i move it out of gear?

No, this only applies to when revving and if it has this issue not all autos do. If it has the issue you will notice it wanting to creep forward in neutral and when you put it in park and let off the brake it will creep until it rolls against the park pin.
