It has an added feature that when you turn the key, it dims down the light quicker, so that you can start driving. Anyone that had driven a newer BMW knows this feature. It adds a really cool lighting effect, and is very useful.

Will these work with led festoon bulbs?

The delay function works the same. But the LED's don't dim as smoothly. right before they fade off completely - just as they are about as dim as they can go - they turn off.

I have several people running LED's with my unit, and they tell me they are happy with my unit - most mention how unhappy they are with their LED's - the tend to either be not bright enough, or dies after a while. They also can rotate in the housing, and will eventually point the wrong way - so that's why I don't recommend them.

so i purchased this E46 keyless entry/alarm system from Einstein http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...234209&page=23 (halfway down page) and im curious if your light timer will work with the alarm unit to turn the interior lights on when the unlock funtion is activated (it will provided a ground pulse to the central locking unit to unlock doors,from which a jumper could run to your light timer unit) will your unit trigger if a ground pulse is applied to door jamb pin wire with the door closed ??

the factory unit requires a ground from door handle (pulled up) and a ground from door jamb pin ,and then see the ground from door jamb pin go away (door closed) to activate for only 6-9 seconds ,a bit more difficult to configure to the alarm system.
