When I first got my E30, one of the very first things I missed from a newer car is simply having a cup holder. So did the only thing I knew to do and I fired up the CAD program and designed one that I felt would be proper in our "Ultimate Driving Machines".

After lots of hard work, over two dozen iterations, tons of testing, and lots of process improvement it's time to show this to the world and offer it up for pre-sale.

The GearSwitch E30 Ultimate Cup Holder. Pre-sale / crowdfunding is going on now, and shipments will begin in May. Pricing starts at $99 fully-loaded for first 50 early pre-sales backers.

Looks cool, GLWS! I've got a RHD, and I think I'd be hitting it while shifting. But for all those that are LHD this looks legit! I love the inserts for different sized drinks etc. Very well thought out!

Thanks! I can try in the passenger seat of an LHD. Would be a good test for our friends in the UK, Australia, Malaysia and other RHD countries.

What 3-D printer are you using if you don't mind me asking?

I think you need to add an AUX and USB port option, Sir.

Possibly even a phone mount to the right or left front corner? Some slick adjustable thing that holds the phone in a useful location, possibly with Qi wireless charging....

Otherwise, looks fantastic.

Hi Luke, thanks for the suggestion! Without spoiling too much, the vision for this is that this cup holder is the first in a line of products that will form a complete solution in the E30. Purpose-built phone mounts are part of that solution. :)
