Snap-On UTK150: All else is crap.

I have issues with knives. I have bought about 300 different utility knives in my life...they all suck in one way or another. Most are cheap crap that die in a year or two at best, some fall apart the day of purchase, some have such idiotic design that you hope the retard who brought that pile of crap to the table is now designing napkin rings...

    Enter the UTK150.

Seriously, this is the best utility knife on the planet. Blade need flipped? Press the little button and pull it out, then re-insert. Blade trashed? Push that same button, pop the blade out, then cycle the blade carrier, viola: new blade!

    What an elegant solution.

The all metal construction, the excellent blade guide, the spare blade holder, all just amazing design and construction.

I do wish they had "scalloped" the bottom of the handle, for some better grip action. I also wish it were more rounded, for greater comfort. While these simple whines are noteworthy, the price is roughly double its nearest competitor at $24.95. I will say without qualification this is the first knife that is worth it.

This little gem is worth flagging down your local Snap On guy. You will never see a better knife...and if you do, PLEASE let me know!

    Luke

i will be trying this bad boy out, but in the past i haven't been a fan of the "sliding" type but rather the fold out type. this one will probably be sturdier, i hope

I gotta go to Sears anyway, so I will check out their offering.

The Snap On still wins. The fucker is solid.

The folding craftsman one is great, it feels very solid and smooth and just "right". It is a little squareish and thin to grip, but not too bad. The way the blade carrier flips open is super quick and smooth for blade changes.

Some guy I was working with had a similar one that was made by Gerber that was just plain bad ass, but probably a $50+ utility knife.

Oh and as far as an old school box cutter type utility knife goes, wal mart sells a good stanley one for under 3 bucks.

might have to pick up one of those. accidentally washed my dedicated knife with my jeans the other day, and this is what came out of the dryer:

needless to say, sorting through an entire load of laundry carefully to make sure i don't grab a blade or cut up my clothes didn't make me very happy about the husky.

+1 Got the same one had it for over 3 years. Never had a problem, hey used it today in the shop. I personally dont give a shit about Snap-On or any other brand other than Craftsman. I break all my snap on like i break my craftsman. At least i can go to Sears and get it replaced then and there. I dont have to wait till the Snap on guy comes to the shop, tell him whats broken, have him order what it is (God forbid they replace it with something on the truck) then wait 2-4 weeks for it to get replaced. The whole while needing that tool. Fuck Crap-on.

Well my snap on guy I can go find like I can go find a sears. I have his cell and at least he doesnt look at me blankly when I show him a broken tool like the putz working in the tool section at sears.

Yeah your snap on rep must be a useless tit. Every guy I've ever dealt with will replace your busted shit on the spot if they have it. Why the fuck else would you pay the premium on their tools if they won't warranty on the spot?
