Pittsburgh 301 Piece Mechanic's Tool Kit

I was desperatly in need of a tool set that didnt have broken/misplaced tool in it. Last time I tryed working on the 325i I almost killed myself over the frustration of not have the proper tool.

So I decided to take a trip to the ole' Harbor Freight, You know that place that you either Love or Hate, or Both.

Anyways I picked up the Largest most high end tool set they offered and I think It payed off. So many of you prob dislike the thought of the "chinese crap" they have to offer, but what you may not know is select tools are made in Taiwan. Which from a Standards point of view is right around Japanese quality. This particular tool set features All Chrome Vandium and American National Standards institute's approval. Pair that with a lifetime broken tool replacement you get what I think is a excellent bargan.

If their is anyone that either wants to or does wrench on their car this is an awesome buy. Never again get frustated because of the lack of tools you have.

P.S If your profession relies on the tools you use(i.e Mechanics) obviously these arnt for you.

yea, but if they dont have it at sears in store, you have to do some run around mailing bull shit.
cant afford mac, blue point etc, so ive been going tthe pittsburg/ chicago route and have been pleased myself.

I say 4 out of 5 stars, for a general tool kit, you can almost take an entire e30 apart with just that kit. I was skeptical about the kit when I bought it, but it works and looks a lot nicer than similar-price-range tools. They been in use almost every day for the last 3 years...and the way I loose tools from moving them around so often;)

Except the screwdrivers. They are utter crap.

I had a carrier bolt round out a pittsburgh impact socket. First time Ive ever seen a BOLT strip a SOCKET. Since then Ive only used Snap On impact sockets.

havent had an issue yet with an pittsburg impact socket. in matter of fact they've snapped bolts that weren't budging.

pneumatic tools give me boners. they've made life so much easier

and honestly every time ive assumed the worst, ive been pleasently surprised by harbor freight. however i couldn't bring myself to take a gamble on one of there welders. and im not trusting there motor stand till i weld the pieces together.

any easy way to check the grade of a bolt by having it tested? im realll curious.

Here in Austin you can just go to the UT engineering department and pay them a few bucks and they will test most items. They then put the results in the archive I think.

i've used their engine stand and never even though twice about it, it worked just fine for me anyway. I like harbor freight it's so cheap and the tools for the most part gets the job done, many many times.

i forgot to update... one of there motor stands is currently holding my ol m20...

so far so good, should recieve m50 duty in a day or two....
