Going to order one of these in the next few days. Was curious, however...when ordering, it asks what shifter you have. Does it matter what you put down or is the DSSR the same length, regardless of the shifter you have? I have the stock shifter in now, but have an Evo (2 or 3, can't remember which) that I'd like to install at the same time.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on an Evo 3 shifter and DSSR today. I have an S52 mated to a ZF 320 trans and there is currently a Z3 shifter of unknown year on the car.

Should I simply order the EVO 3 for a 97 M3 (the year my motor and transmission is from) or is there more to it?

You're going to love the DSSR. Even using an OEM lever (Z3 1.9), the difference in feel while shifting is incredible.

I tried to install mine this morning...

Big deception, it's about 3/4'' to 1'' to short. :hitler:

It could have fit but I don't want my shifter on the back seat.

I wanted to install an AKG shifter later this summer, will I need to have a machine shop lengthen my DSSR in order to fit ?

I really don't understand...

Edit: maybe the selector joint on my car is too short ?

What shifter do you have? Sure you don't have a slightly angled one (like on the left hand of the picture) that you have in backwards? What trans and shifter?

Selector joint isnt a variable here, if it fits you have the late model (correct) one.
