AKG Motorsports Urethane CAB's (not offset)

OK, so since my CAB's were the only thing in my front suspension I haven't replaced, I decided to go urethane.

I chose to go with the softer urethane. Unfortunately, they are not available in M3 offset. After speaking with Alex at AKG, I decided to use the non-offset, rather than the extra NVH he seemed to think I would have with the harder compound.

Basically, he feels that unless you track the car, don't bother. The extra caster will not help anything significantly.

The AKG's were very nicely priced. Less than $60 shipped to my door.

Easy to install, no press required to remove my old stock CAB's or to install the new. I cut a slot in both the inner and outer metal sleeves and slipped them off.

Used a vice and some waterproof grease to slip them into the lollipops, then more grease and slipped them onto my control arms.

Now for the best part...VERY impressive difference in feel. All last traces of brake shudder are gone. Turn in is crisper, flatter. I can feel more of the road surface, but not dramatic at all. Excellent cornering, especially longer sweepers. Off camber corners are far more confidant, especailly reducing radius. Since braking has improved so much, overall confidence in the car has improved tremendously.

If anyone says these do not increase road feel, they must not be running 17's, that is for sure. I feel far more of the road surface, but well worth the price of admission, any day.

If you are still running worn out stock stuff, get these. Just incredible!

    Luke

Luke, which do you have installed... Polyurethane 70A or 70D?

Has anything changed since your review, still pleased?

Yes, I am still happy with them. The tiniest bit of the braking shudder has crept back in...but ya gotta unnerstand....the car shook like a dog shitting a peach pit before! The "brake shake" is just the tiniest litttle shudder, less than most E30's deal with.

The road feel is a whole other issue...damn, this thing feels good. The whole weird feel going over diagonal ruts is gone, the tracking is just amazing...so nice. My sons ETA is gonna get them next week...he doesn't even have a permit yet.

If I had known just what a difference these were, and how easy the install is, I would have put them day one.

As far as the hardness goes, I did whichever are softer!

Caster bro, not camber. Big difference.

Good $$ but those are the regular non-offset ones .
Might also want to list what hardness they are .

FWIW I'm running the hardest offset ones from AKG on my auto-x 318 and they are made very well and are priced out just right .

That's what the original post is about, not-offset bushing....no? It's exactly why I posted them on here, and they are the harder material.

Andy's a good man, but I disagree with him on the caster thing. My car had damn near 14 degrees of, it and you could really feel it. The turn in was amazing!

Will be ordering my set tomorrow and installing them ASAP along with new tie rods... my car has bump steer on perfectly smooth roads... eek. Those 225 g-Force Sports can't be helping things. :)

I put the centered 75d ones on, and just sprayed simple green on the ends of the control arms. I'm thinking that wasn't a good move, and maybe I should've used permatex anti seize or wheel bearing grease instead. The car isn't ready to drive at the moment, but when I push the front end down I am getting some squeaking out of them.

Anyone think that it'll go away after I get some miles on them?

Nope, it will get 100X worse almost immediately.

                              Expect to regrease them yearly.
