Sumitomo HTR H4s

It was time to replace my worn RT-615s with something else better suited for DD. I didn't want to spend more than I had to on tires, so I gave HTR H4s a shot. At $50 a tire for 196/60 14 from Tire Rack, seemed like a good deal.

So far after putting about 400 miles on them I have to say I am pleasantly impressed. Obviously they don't have the grip of RT615s, but the ride quality improved with them right away over worn RT615s, they aren't noisy when cornering unless you are really pushing it.

Obvously they have less grip, so your cornering speeds are decreased.

It just rained here, so I'll do another review of what they feel like in rain.

To directly compare these to worn Rt-615s they grip really good in rain. Don't get me wrong you can still slide the rear, BUT the main difference is they slide a little bit but they are trying to gain grip back. Off the line in wet I get a little bit of wheel spin and then I start moving w/o much problem, even though this is on a lowly m10 the worn rt615s would spin like crazy and I could make the car spin the tires easy in 1st to 2nd shift and even sometimes in 2nd to 3rd. With the HTR H4s I have try hard to make them spin in 1st to 2nd. I am talking about quick shifting in 5-6k range.

In dry they do make noise if you spin them off the line, where the RT615s were silent.

Overall I am happy with my purchase.

I've had several sets of Sumitomo HTR's on my E36 M3. For the price, you cant beat them.

I am a fan of the HTR+s. As stated, for the price it's a pretty good tire..

I'm currently running a set of Sumitomo's and like stated previously, the function you get for the cost is well worth it.

I ran them on both sets of my steelies and I loved them. They are VERY sticky tires for they dry and work very well in the wet..
For the money you really cant beat it..

My opinion haven't changed since the install. They aren't as quiet as rt615s (or as good in dry of course) that I had on the car previously, but a very good all season tire imho. I'll probably order another set for 2nd car.
