It was my understanding that the thread is the same but something to do with the caliper design doesn't allow the E30 line to go in to it. Is there any way somebody can confirm or deny this?

Correct, the Mazda is inverted flare, and E30 not. (or is it vise-versa)
The threads IS THE SAME (M10x1.00)
You can machine the surface flat (or use a straight block with sandpaper) and use a crush washer like I did. No leaks.

      Questions to the OP:
You said this will be milled out of 304SS, have you confirmed this with your machinist? Making SS parts is very hard on the tooling. Making it much more expensive.
Will there be an offset between the RX7 holes vs. e30 Strut holes?
What will be the threading on the holes? (Are you even threading it?)
      How thick are the brackets?

Also there is a minor (or major for some) problem with the VDub rotors. As Massive Lee has pointed out, the Rotors are ~1mm too thin on the E30 strut. When you bolt up a wheel, most of them will not pin up against the rotor as there is a gap. You will either need wheels with a bigger taper or wheel spacers like I did.

Id like to know what design you are going with also. You guys will either have to remove, or cut the dust shield for these things to fit on the front of the car.

As far as the wheel problems, take a file or dremel to the inner hole of the wheel, just bevel it slightly, it wont take much at all and the wheel should still be able to be hub centric.

Not to thread jack or anything, but i figure it would be relevant. If anyone needs some Rx7 calipers or g60 rotors for this setup, PM me, Ive got a spare set.

im almost 100% positive they wont. you will need a little more than an inch of clearance in every direction from your current wheels to your stock brakes for this upgrade to work behind your current wheels.

I'm the machinist and I make parts out of tougher materials on a regular basis. 304 is not a problem. I have already added tooling costs into the project.

Will there be an offset between the RX7 holes vs. e30 Strut holes?
Yes the calipers will be perfectly centered on the rotor.

What will be the threading on the holes? (Are you even threading it?)
M12x1.75 and I will be supplying the grade 10.9 bolts

              How thick are the brackets?
              3/8"

Most aftermarket wheels (these brakes aren't going to fit behind any OE wheels) have enough of a chamfer on the centerbore to clear this but thanks for bringing it up.

I've been running Corrado rotors for over 3 years and have run 4 different sets of wheels with no problem.

Bejbis, didn't you say you found some brake line adapters off an 80's volvo? Any more info on this would be great!

I've been waiting 2 years for someone to make these. the calipers have just been sitting in my room!

I don't go over there much, so i didn't feel like posting it there. Feel free to post a link on e30tech or bimmerforums. :) ps. I made a mock up bracket out of aluminum last night so i could figure out the proper offset to center the caliper. Now i'm just waiting for hardware from mcmaster carr and some late nights at the shop getting brackets done. I'm planning on having the kits ready to ship in 2 weeks or less.

Been on the fence, but think I will go for this with the extra x-mas $$ I have. What tooling are you using? I'm guessing something like 4FL ALTIN coated carbide End mills. I'd love to make these at work, but the setup alone would be a pain, and we just don't have time to spare on the CNC Mill.

Anyways, thank for for doing this and let me know when/where to send the $$!

Pretty close, we use mostly TiN or TiAN coated endmills.

Merry Christmas guys! We got 10 people on the GB! Woot!

                              Looks good 2002Manic!

What we found was 56-60thou offset centered the calipers. It might be more benitifical to do a little more just for wheel clearance.
