Rear 4 piston kit now ready

We have completed the prototype of the rear 4 piston kit and can now start accepting orders.

The kit will consist of the following:

11.75" vented 2 piece rotors utilizing the stock rotor center section to keep the park brake function

Wilwood 4 piston calipers with pads

6061T6 Aluminum mounting brackets with mounting hardware

    Braided steel brake hoses.

Production pieces will not have the black center section. We will offer silver zinc plating on the rotor and center section as a $40 option. Slotting of the rotors may be a future option.

    Retail pricing is $950.

    R3V pricing is $795.

    You have my attention!

Are the calipers radial or lug mount?

    Are the rotors Wilwood?

Is there the option to just buy caliper brackets only? As I'm in Australia, I'd like to save on the shipping cost by having an OEM rear rotor engineered locally.

I suppose this answers a few of my questions :):

        Sustainability question...

Not having experience in this... question to you:

It's a 2 piece setup. So assuming that when the disc section is worn/warped, I only need to mount a new disc on the custom hat (nice hat BTW); where or who do I goto when I need a replacement disc?

How much would the replacement disc cost?

        Nice rear brake setup!

The center section is made from a stock rotor, so I suppose if you want to spend the $ to have someone make it for you you could, but I would guess the costs would be greater than just buying the parts from us. That part doesn't really weigh much (6-8 lbs) so shipping it to OZ wouldn't add that much.

The rotor is a Wilwood part so they are readily available. Replacement cost is approx $80 each (only for the friction ring). The center section shouldn't really wear out unless you leave the park brake on or something.

Calipers are a radial mount design.

Okay so what would be the shipping cost and method for a full kit to Australia?

            And some more questions...

Is that particular caliper available with 1 inch pistons? I need this size to match my front BBK. (actually, can you post or PM me a caliper part number as I'd like to know if the range of EBC pads I have on hand will fit this caliper).

Is the rotor size available in the Wilwood GT-series (again, could post or PM me the full rotor dimensions/part number), and if so what would be the additional cost?

            Cheers!

Nope wouldn't pay $$ for someone else to make them, since you got that nicely covered. I was just more concerned with when it came time to replace the disk (not hat) part of your good looking 2 piece rotor setup. Since you're using readily available wilwood disks that'll work.

Thanks for the info, nice setup!!

What kind of testing have you done on these kits? The reason i ask, is a fellow did this same thing a few years ago on s14.net and his hats ended up cracking.

Just a had a quick flick through that post on s14.net...it was the rotor that cracked, not the hat...and AP sent him a new rotor as AP could only explain it as having been a defective casting on the rotor:

                      No 1.00" or 1.12"

I was planning on having the rotors plated to prevent rusting, but if someone wants them unfinished the kit would be ready as soon as the other caliper comes in from Wilwood. Should be tomorrow or Wednesday.

I'm ordering more stock rotors today to have them machined in the next couple of days. I will have them plated instead of painting them black like the prototype.
