    H&R Race Springs for $282

I just found this site and all their H&R springs are 40% off list price. So, I ordered a set of H&R race springs for $282 + shipping. I talked to Eric.

The IE Stage 3's are $275 anyways, but I guess if you want the H&R name...

You've got to go to the link that says "group buys". You can't use the shopping cart feature on the website yet, so if intersted just call er email them.

Sports retail for $349, so 40% off = $210. So, the price on Sports is typical.

It looks like they have a deal on FK springs too.

I don't have technical details about H&R race vs. IE stage 3, but I'm not convinced they are the same. Even if the rate and ride height are the same, there can be differences in the steel, the paint, the shot peen, the presetting process, etc. So, I am paying for the name and the reputation.

So they jacked up the price, put a 40% off sale up and expect people to think its a great deal?

Schneider325, "list price" is the suggested retail price published by H&R. Did you notice the link to find the prices takes you right to H&R's website?

So, the store did not jack up the retail price. I guess it's common for stores to give 40% off of list price for Sports. But, try to find the Race springs for 40% off...I have never seen the price this low before. For example, they sell for $399.95 at Turner Motorsports.

I was really just trying to let the board know about the price on the Race springs.

There is a difference in the spring rates on the H&R race and IE stg 3. The rear springs are similar, but the fronts are not so.

From what Jeff Ireland told me on the phone:

I asked specifically about spring rates on his stage3 springs, and he commented, "I'm not giving exact spring rates, but my springs (stg3) are very similar to H&R Race rates. However, my front springs stiffen up dramatically when the front spring is at maximum deflection."

In other words, the IE's are very similar to HR race, but the front spring is much stiffer once loaded up. atleast that is my understanding.

So then now it comes down to... Do you want one of Jeff's outsourced springs from where? Or made in Germany to TUV spec H&R's?

Same price roughly.. Hmmm I think I will go with the Spec spring. H&R's for me before steel goes up again.

That would really make life easier on the bump stops. Awesome.

To be fair, IE Stage 3 springs are available from www.seambmw.com for $240.

My H&R Race springs are installed and they are exactly what I wanted. They work well with the Bilstein shocks. The ride is well controlled, tight but not harsh (with snow tires on). I haven't taken any hard corners yet, but I'll be autocrossing the car this summer. The front fender is 24" from the ground. The rear I think is about 23" (I need to recheck it).
