Thanks :) I can't wait to see some pixs on the 2dr.

Yeah, they will fit on your car in a sense that they will bolt on, but the debate is about the ride quality with low and equal spring rates. Im sure they may ride around town nice, but I wanna see what happens when you try to apex a corner at 65+ mph... youre gonna be understeering like grandmas fwd honda...

Just think, all the larger companies like H&R, Eibach, and etc. have a racing pedigree and conduct extensive R&D, yet none of them offer equal spring rates in all four corners...

i bet it wont track so great. 6k is roughly 379lbs if my math is good.

I remember reading that bc of the rear trailing arm setup the effective rear spring rate is about 1/2 of the actual spring rate. Therefore a typical 650r/450f setup is actually quite normal, maintaining a stiffer front end than rear.

I can't comment on how this will hande, because I don't have the experience or knowledge of rear world use. But I do know that the rear is going to come out wayyy softer than EVERY other performance suspension setup I've ever read/heard about for the e30.

these handle pretty good, just got em installed on my vert, The ride isnt the greatest but if you tinker with the settings, Im sure you will find something that makes you happy. I have the rear shock stiffness high and the front soft, it compensates for the even spring rate a bit. Eventually I am putting 550+ springs in the rear.

I just put a set on my car. I had them on for about 3 weeks now and so far the ride is very bouncy. I tried messing with the settings but it feels the same. Any suggestions on different spring rates that might help with the bouncing?

how low did you go? When i had my car slammed it was very bouncy, then I lifted it and set the front to almost all the way soft and the ride feels just like h and r sports

That is correct. Due to the placement of the spring in an E30(one of the worst for this) you lose about 50% of the rate. THe E36 is about the same. It is slightly better. The E46 better still. Many BMWs have a 'coilover' style or 'strut' style in the rear as well. This will keep almost 100% of the rate. The way the spring is set on the 3 Series vehicles the arm has a mechanical/leverage advantage so you lose that rate.

What is the actual rate of these? They are high in the front and low in the back are they? Really 650/450? It should be the other way around... That means it comes out of the box at 630ish front rate and 225 rear rate? That doesn't seem right...

Less spring rate potentially or you could try raising the vehicle. The 'bounce' is either from the ride height being so low you are outside of the effective range of travel or you are hitting the bump stop and it bounces off it.

                    OR

The spring rates are simply too high and the dampener(the more important piece to the puzzle) cannot control the spring oscillations and thus you hit a bump and the spring cannot be controlled by the dampener and it is bouncing. I would lean towards both potentially being your problem.

I have it slammed right now, but I think I will raise it about 1inch.

I would do that. I am willing to bet a vast improvement will be made with some decent shock travel.

We installed these on an s50 swap car at the shop, and it handles pretty damn well. I'm becoming a big fan of this coil-over kit!
